Tell The Police…

That this was a terrible mistake. I had every intention of following all of their commands. They didn’t have to be nervous or scared of me. I tried my best to convey that to them. I showed my credentials, my hands, and them respect. However, still, this was not good enough. Let the officer know that pull the trigger that if they feel remorse then I forgive them. I know the job they perform is a hard and often a thankless one. It’s hard protecting a community that usually doesn’t trust them. I ask that they think about what happened and learn from it so that if they keep their job, this may not happen to another person that did not require lethal force to be neutralized. If they feel remorse, tell them the best way to make it up to me is to be part of the process to knock down the mistrust between law enforcement and people of color. However, if I was killed out of malice and without remorse, then let the officer know that they do not deserve to wear the badge. Law enforcement is an honorable profession, but they no longer deserve the honor it comes with. Let them know that for the rest of their days, they deserved to be shamed and the badge taken away from them. Either way, let them know I forgive them.
